DeNA has announced the launch of the first major in-game event in Star Wars: Galactic Defense, its tower defense title released last October. The event is called “Attack on Echo Base,” and it will see players on both sides of the Galactic Civil War battling for control of the frozen planet of Hoth.
Each day, players will be able to compete against their friends in the new challenge mode, working to climb the leaderboards and earn boosted experience points, in-game currency and other rewards. In addition, event-specific levels will feature special bonus waves of enemies, which help players rack up higher scores than ever before and earn even more free resources.
During this event, players will be able to earn special or unique characters for their army, including General Veers and an “Echo Base” version of Han Solo. These prizes are powerful Champions, the game’s set of hero characters, which can be manually controlled during each level, and each come equipped with a special skill.
The Attack on Echo Base event will run until February 2, 2015. Star Wars: Galactic Defense is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store, Google Play and the Amazon Appstore. The game allows players to choose to back the Galactic Empire or the Rebel Alliance in its level-based campaign mode, but also allows users to jump to the other side, to complete another set of missions, at any time.
