With the sun peaking through the clouds more and more these days, there is no better time to start your Spring garden. Here at Pinterest, we’ve been talking about removing weeds, planting new seeds, and prepping garden beds. We contacted blogger and garden expert, Bren Haas, to help us shape our vision and co-host our next Twitter #Pinspiration chat.
This week’s theme is all about gardening, so we want to hear what you’re growing in your backyards. Tweet us your garden #Pinspiration to @Pinterest and @BG_garden this Friday, March 7th, between 9-10am PST.
Need a little gardening advice? Bren, our Pincierge for the chat, will send you a Pin or a board to help fuel your vision. Just add the hashtag #Pinspiration to your tweet and ask away. Here’s a few gardening topics on our mind: garden to table recipes, greenhouse growing, planting with the kiddos and picking the right flowers at our local garden centers.
This week, we caught up with Bren to hear more about her gardening experiences:
Can you give us a quick background of yourself and how you found a passion in gardening?
Gardening has always been a part of my life growing up with parents who loved nature. As a parent I’ve always surrounded my children with gardening edibles, flowers or just visiting public gardens. I spend my days photographing, editing and studying the latest in social media development and I’m always looking for an excuse to travel to a garden to promote what’s growing! When I’m not at my computer, you can find me planting year-round veggies in my Ohio greenhouse, getting lost in nature or cooking it up in my family’s country kitchen. No matter where I am, you will find a mobile device in hand (sometimes both) sharing with the world!
What is the most rewarding part of the outdoor experience?
The most rewarding thing about being outdoors in the garden is being a part of nature and knowing this is all a gift to us. To be able to take soil from the earth and plant a seed that grows into something is the most rewarding experience you will ever encounter.
What advice do you have for someone looking to get into gardening this Spring?
My advice to anyone who wants to get into gardening this Spring is JUST DO IT! There are so many amazing people around you that you may not even realize who can help you grow something. We have the advantage today with social media to reach out to amazing people, who are more than willing to share experiences.
I would also like to encourage you to stop at your local garden center and look around. Be sure to talk to someone at the center about how you are new to gardening. Garden Center owners are the best and dedicate their lives to teaching others to grow success in their home and garden.
Thanks for the tips, Bren! Don’t forget to join us on Twitter this Friday and share your garden #Pinspiration with her and the Pinterest team. Also, be sure to check out her website, Pinterest boards and Facebook page for inspiration. See you Friday!
