Have you ever stared at the screen and your mind is a complete blank? You try to write a clever inspirational headline but nothing! So you buy a good book on copywriting, but yet still your brain can’t generate that winning formula for a greed headline or article title.

As I was doing my research to write this article I came across a really good article title I think you’ll like – by Brian Clark. The title reads – “10 Sure-Fire Headline Formulas That Work.” Now that grabbed my attention. So I had to read them.

Another title by Brian Clark is “10 Steps to Becoming a Better Writer.” Any one who wants to be a better writer should read that article. I read it and laughed. It’s good!

Secrets of How to Write Effective Headlines
So how do you know if your headline is good one or not? You write a headline that you think is great and it’s a winner, but not one single sale. Ouch! You can learn how to write great headline titles from the article “10 Sure-Fire Headlines.” It’s a good place to start, and grow your knowledge of writing headlines.

Start your headline with two or three keywords, so the search engines know what your article is about. Make a promise, state a fact or ask a question. “How-to” articles are infectious. Articles headlines that contain these words always grab attention. Also you can use lists and/or number facts.

Collect headlines and articles titles and make a list or swipe file. Read copywriting books by copywriters. Listen to the news on TV or sign up for Google Alerts for headline inspiration. Swipe the headlines and make your own template swipe file.

Your headline must grab attention and the article must deliver on the promise of the headline. Lie in your article and you are only deceiving yourself. Your headline is your first chance to catch your prospects attention. Suck them in with a good headline and they’ll continue on, to scan or read your article.
