The Facebook site with the most engineering talent aside from its headquarters in Menlo Park, Calif., is its Seattle office, and with the company’s employee total in the Emerald City topping 400, more space is necessary.
GeekWire reported that Facebook occupied a fourth floor in its building last week, with plans to tack on another two floors next month, basically doubling its space once all six floors are populated.
Paul Carduner, who has been the social network’s site lead since last year, said in an interview with GeekWire:
Seattle is just a hotbed of awesome talent. We have a bunch of companies that have been here for a long time, building up Seattle as this great technology hub. It’s been a huge boon for us to be here … There’s a lot of room for us to grow in this market.
According to GeekWire, projects that are worked on in Facebook’s Seattle office include voice calling, its Atlas ad network, the Facebook platform, mobile application install ads, infrastructure and video.
